Economy servers put trade, currency, and player markets at the centre of gameplay. Jobs earn you income, player shops and auction houses let you buy and sell goods, and the server economy evolves based on what players produce and demand. The best economy servers keep the market player-driven rather than admin-controlled.

Economy servers run shop plugins (ChestShop, QuickShop), a server-wide currency, and usually Jobs Reborn so every action you take earns money. The best ones balance grind with high-end goals like land claims, mob spawners or auction houses.
Many economy servers also integrate with Towny or Factions so players can build towns, levy taxes and operate joint businesses. Healthy economy servers fight inflation aggressively - watch for those with item sinks or daily resets.
A server built around in-game currency, player shops, and jobs. Players earn money through Jobs Reborn or similar plugins by mining, farming, building, or trading, then spend it on player-run markets or server upgrades.
Most use chest shops where any player can create a physical store in the world. You stock the chest, set your price, and other players browse and buy. Auction houses let you list items without a physical storefront.
Not necessarily. In-game economy and real-money purchases are separate. Reputable economy servers sell cosmetic ranks only. The player-driven in-game economy is entirely earned through gameplay.
Jobs Reborn is the standard plugin and includes Miner, Farmer, Woodcutter, Builder, Hunter, Fisherman, Enchanter, and more. Each job pays you for performing its relevant actions in game.
